Synchronous control and asynchronous control of LED display

In the widespread use of LED displays, there are mainly two control methods: synchronous control and asynchronous control. So what is the difference between these two control methods? Below, LEDVDI will explain one by one

1 What is synchronous control, asynchronous control?

Synchronous control: Synchronized led display screens need to be connected to external devices (such as computers, video processors) through synchronization signals to transmit images and control commands in real time. If the computer is interrupted or turned off, communication between the computer and the display screen is lost, information cannot be sent to the display screen, and the LED display screen will not display. This LED synchronization system is mainly used for real-time display of venues, such as live broadcasts, event led displays, event promotions, etc.


 

Asynchronous control: Asynchronous display screens can work independently without the need for real-time connection with external devices. It can play pre stored images and video content through memory or control card internal programs.The principle of LED asynchronous system is to first edit the content to be played on the computer, and then send it to the control card of the LED display screen through transmission media (network cable, data cable, 3G/4G network, WIFI, USB flash drive, etc.) and store it. At this time, the control card outputs and displays it. So, even if the computer is turned off, the LED display can still play content. Asynchronous control is mainly used for displaying a large number of advertising screens, such as poster LED screens, light pole led screens, car top led screens, etc.



2. Display content:

Synchronous display screen: Synchronous display screen can display images and video content transmitted by external devices in real time, supporting real-time updates and dynamic effects.

Asynchronous display screen: Asynchronous display screens usually play pre stored images and video content, and do not support real-time updates and dynamic effects.

3. Flexibility:

Synchronous display screen: The synchronous display screen can adjust the display content and parameters in real time according to the control instructions of external devices, and has high flexibility.

Asynchronous display screen: The display content and parameters of asynchronous display screens usually need to be adjusted in pre-set programs, resulting in low flexibility.

 

These two control methods are selected according to the application scenarios and requirements of LED displays. Synchronous control is mainly used in situations that require high real-time performance and rich expressiveness, while asynchronous control is more suitable for scenarios that require simple display operation.
